Faculty Retreat – Another year at Bethel College (IN)

Categories: IN THIS CORNER

Today marks the second day of our faculty retreat, a two day event that brings all of the faculty together for a time of renewal, worship, and training.  We used to hold this event, with spouses, at nearby hotels, but the economics of higher education (which still feels the pinch from the 2008 debacle) require greater stewardship so we hold it on campus.  Still, the time is special and inspirational.

I’m beginning my 11th year at Bethel College and whenever I am on campus and look around at the faculty and staff at the college, I realize that I work with people that I like a lot.  Bethel is known for its top-notch young faculty and its warmth and vibrancy. There IS indeed something different going on at Bethel College.  Located at the corner of Mishawaka and South Bend, the campus is a beautiful setting that gets prettier each year.

Bethel is a relatively young campus, still experiencing its late adolescence as it nears 2300 students this year across its programs.  I’m proud to be a faculty member of this college and look forward to this coming year.  The youth ministry degree has another group of dynamic students in this year’s freshman class, who will continue the rich tradition we have in the program.

If you or someone you know is considering a Christian liberal arts college, have them visit Bethel on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday during the school year and see it firsthand.
